Poker VT is best known as the online poker training site of Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu is not only one of the most popular poker pros in the world, but he has been a longtime contributor to such publications as Card Player Magazine well before it was fashionable, and is considered one of the best poker “minds” in the game.

Currently, Poker VT has eight instructors with over $1 million in tournament winnings, and well over $30 million combined. In addition to their strategic minds, Poker VT also employs Prof. Charles Swayne, who acts as the site’s Math Guru, and has contributed over 200 charts to the site. Currently, the vast majority of videos deal with No Limit Holdem –both cash and tournaments—although the instructors are starting to branch out into other disciplines, including a Mixed-Game series by Daniel Negreanu.

As a newer online poker training site, Poker VT has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure they produce enough high quality content to compete with some of the more established sites. Poker VT puts up at least 50 new videos a month. So it will only be a matter of time before Poker VT catches up to the other giants in the online poker training world.

One of the focuses of Poker VT is high quality production values; all of Poker VT’s videos are made in the Poker VT studio with an isolation mic, which eliminates background noise, choppy Internet connections, and poor audio quality that plagues some other online poker training sites.

Target Population

Right now Poker VT is a No Limit Holdem player’s playground, but the site seems to be steering towards a more rounded type of training site.

Poker VT has videos for all stakes, and will even be worthwhile to high-stakes players, especially the live cash game videos which I’ll talk more about in the Unique Features section.

All-in-all, Poker VT works for any player who focuses on NLHE, and will soon be for players whose persuasions fall outside of NLHE. I’m especially interested in any Limit Holdem videos by Negreanu, since he is one of the best Limit Holdem players in the world.

Unique Features

Alright, here is where Poker VT obliterates their competition. There are so many innovations on this site I’m going to save some of them for the “Highlights” section.

First off, Poker VT is a Flash site, and as I mentioned earlier the production values are through the roof. Players will be greeted by Daniel or another instructor in the center of the poker table talking directly at you.

Poker VT also pioneered “Real Time Thought Process”. Basically, the site sets up a poker game with a mix of instructors and amateurs; mic’s them all up; and puts noise killing headphones on each player. So, each player is free to express what is going on in his or her head during the hand. I love this feature because it doesn’t allow the instructor to spend days thinking about a certain hand and then replay it on a video; the coaching is done in the heat of the moment.

Poker VT generally comes with a very hefty price tag –although I must say it’s definitely worth it—but the site is currently running an awesome special:

The first three months membership fees are being waived –normally $29.99/month—and the initiation fee has been reduced from $149 to $127.49!!! Basically, if you sign up for Poker VT right now you’ll save $111.51 in the first three months! Normally, a new player will pay roughly $80 per month for the first three months; right now the cost is only $42.49.

Poker VT does offer a free 24-hour trial membership, but you will have to give your credit card details to apply for this offer.

Overall

As you can tell from the PokerVT review so far, I give Poker VT very high marks. Everything about the site is done extremely well, from the video production, to the unique features, to the amazing instructor team they have assembled. The only reason I hesitate to choose Poker VT as the best online poker training site is the price tag –even with the current discount Poker VT is still at the high end of the market.

Even though the price may not be right for some players, I can’t imagine anyone thinking the site is over-priced once they join and experience everything Poker VT has to offer.
