CardRunners

CardRunners is the first and original poker training site. To date, they boast the biggest poker training video libraby and a massive roster of highly qualified poker coaches. Players looking to learn in a multitude of poker variants and aim to watch alot of content will fit right in at CardRunners. Current top pros at CardRunners include Jungleman12, PoorUser, Muddywater and LearnedFromTV.

CardRunners Review

Cardrunners is the dominant name in the online poker training market; as both one of the oldest, and one of the most highly regarded poker training sites. The idea for creating an online poker training site –later to be known as Cardrunners– was the work of two online poker pros, Taylor Caby and Andrew Wiggins, who decided to put their expertise to good use and teach as many poker players as they possibly could.

Cardrunners has the most extensive video library of any site, and even though the content focuses on No Limit Holdem (over 1,200 videos), members will also have access to numerous videos in other poker disciplines like PLO (136 videos), Limit Holdem (114 videos), and Stud/Omaha 8/Razz/Triple Draw/Mixed games among the 1,683 videos Cardrunners currently boasts. Cardrunners releases a new video daily, so players will never run out of content to peruse on the site.

When it comes to a big name instruction team Cardrunners is second-to-none: In addition to some of the highest stakes players in all of poker –Brian Hastings, Brian Townsend, Cole South, and David Benefield—Cardrunners also offers videos from guest instructors including high stakes and low limit specialists.

Target Population

Cardrunners focuses on No Limit Holdem poker training for players. Furthermore, even though Cardrunners has enough beginner content for new and struggling players; the site’s real mission is to turn players into BIG winners, and therefore has a lot of mid to high stakes content.

Although Cardrunners is basically for anyone who is looking to improve their No Limit Holdem game –and to a lesser extent PLO, Limit Holdem, and Tournaments—players looking to make the jump from low-limits to mid limits will benefit the most from joining Cardrunners.

It must be noted that there has been a decent surge in PLO poker training videos in the recent past on the site.

Cardrunners is also a great training site for Sit & Go (161 videos) and Multi-table tournament players (294 videos).

Recently the site has started adding a lot more PLO content; a game that is quickly becoming the second most popular form of poker behind NLHE.

Unique Features

As the originator and by most accounts the leading website in the poker training genre, Cardrunners hasn’t felt the need to try to come up with a new angle –that’s for their competitors to figure out in order to compete with Cardrunners.

Cardrunners has stuck with what turned them into the leading online poker training site: Good quality videos and a reputation for helping players of all levels become winning poker players.

Coaching Team

As I said, one of the biggest advantages of joining Cardrunners is their instructor team. Not only do the coaches at Cardrunners have the poker skills, but they also have the coaching ability and experience to help players make progress.

Pricing Options and Exclusive Discounts

Cardrunners offers total access to the site for $27.99/month in addition to a one-time $99.99 activation fee.

Cardunners doesn’t offer players a free trial –something a lesser known site will typically offer—but they do have two different ways for potential members to browse the site:

  • Join as registered guest. Registered guests have limited access to the site. Actually the only difference between a registered guest and someone touring the site is access to the blogs area and the hand history tools.
  • 24hr Pass. Cardrunners will give players a 24 hour pass to browse the member’s area. The cost of a 24hr pass is $17.99, and gives players access to up to 50 videos and most of the members area on the website.

Full Tilt Poker players can receive a free membership to Cardrunners by cashing in their Full Tilt Points in the FTP store. Although it will cost you 20,000 FTP’s for a single month –this covers the activation fee– once you are a member of Cardrunners you can get additional months for only 4,500 FTP’s. For all membership options for Cardrunners, check out the Full Tilt store under “Tutorials”.

Overall

This Cardrunners review acknowledges it is definitely one of the top online poker training sites, and for strictly No Limit Holdem content is the hands down champion.  Cardrunners has what every online poker site wants; a huge video library, well known instructors, and a fantastic reputation. Furthermore Cardrunners videos have been assembled over time, and are not a collection of hastily made videos simply to add content to the site.

I would recommend Cardrunners to any No limit Holdem player without reservation.
